| Subject: | "Tar Putty" Replacement |
| Date: | Wed, 3 Jan 2001 02:58:06 -0500 |
I'm currently redoing the the axles (bushings, ball joint covers,
brakes, etc.). While I was cleaning under the fenders, I found a lot of
original "tar putty" filling the gaps between body panels. The stuff
was old and cracked with lots of dirt buildup behind the tar, so I
removed it. I cleaned out the areas and sprayed in POR15 as a
precaution (no rust visible), but now I have a question.
Question: What do I replace the "tar putty" with? Is there something
that will seal up the areas better or is it better to leave the areas
open so they can be cleaned and drain out?
