Hello everyone. I'm still immensely enjoying my new 1973 Pantera, and
having fun tweaking it a little to suit my personal tastes. Although the
sound of the engine is wonderful, since I'm using it as a daily driver
listening to music is also a little more important than it might be for
most of y'all (yea, that's right, I'm from the south :-) who only drive
yours on weekends or whatever. Anyway, related to that, I thought I'd
ask the group a couple more things:
1) The engine noise level high enough in the interior that I have to
turn the music up fairly loud to hear it. The noise makes it difficult
to hear the subtleties of the music, and that volume level can't be good
for my long term hearing. I saw an article about soundproofing the cabin
on this list's archive, but it was a lot more involved than I want to
get (and hopefully overkill for my purposes). Is there a reasonably easy
way to reduce engine noise level somewhat in the cabin?
2) I need a place to store my music tapes etc. Hall Pantera (2000
catalog, page 30) has a arm rest console/glove compartment type thing
that attaches between the seats that is a nice solution. However, it
comes with a clock and oil temp gauge (in addition to the existing ash
tray and cigarette lighter). You have the option of not getting the
clock/gauge, but that space where they would be is still there and is
then just wasted area. I saw a similar type thing in an old (1970's?)
"Gran Turismo" catalog (they no longer are in business as far as I can
tell) I got from the guy I bought the car from. This version didn't have
the clock/temp gauge capability at all (just the ash tray and lighter),
but rather had a longer glove compartment section, which I prefer both
for looks and the additional storage space. Does anyone know where I can
get this version, or have one they'd be willing to sell?
