All:
Been lurking on another address so I decided to come up to surface for now (yes, the car is coming along fine, thank you).
I think this is terrible news! The fact that there is a good chance of having our classics subjected to those notorious dictatorial smog rules once again is disturbing. I see that many will be attending the Sacramento meeting on January 18th. If I can be there, I would be. Instead, I will be writing to my local assemblyman in opposition to the reintroduction of these asinine smog rules.
About 12 years ago, I was directly involved in speaking out against another measure: this was on the semi-automatic weapons ban. Without going into the politics of that particular subject, I did notice that these folks do listen to what you say (this was the local County Supervisors meeting in Monterey County).
What is disturbing is that many of you on this list will gripe, complain, stamp your feet, yet fail to do anything about an impending piece of legislation that will restrict, hamper, and for some, ban what might be your greatest dream in your life: your Pantera. Given the opportunity, I can see these snotty bureaucrats trying to enact future legislation to force you destroy your classic car (don't think it can happen. Law abiding owners of so called
"assault weapons" who were foolish enough to register their weapons are now facing similar actions to either ship their weapons out of
state or have them handed over to the authorities).
These so-called environmentalists have a take no prisoners attitude about
banning whatever they deem necessary to have a pie-in-the-sky "zero
emissions" policy. I can readily see a policy of legislation, restriction,
and confiscation in the future. Instead of bitching, moaning, or
complaining about "bureacratic legislation", turn you anger to the pen and
contact your state assemblyman or senator. FWIW. Cal #2428 going back to
submerge mode.
