Matt,
Check the archives regarding rear wheel bearings. These are a
Pantera-specific part, requiring a special $100 socket to dismantle. If you
can feel sloppiness in the rear at the brake disc, then your bearings are
REALLY shot--I've seen many cars whose rear bearings were gone, yet movement
could only be detected with the wheels on the car.
Mike Dailey does a super job of describing the procedure on his website.
You can almost guarantee that your axle has been demolished by continuing to
drive with blown-out bearings. So you have a rather expensive fix ahead of
you--at a minimum, you will need about $500 in parts just to do one side.
Many vendors will let you borrow the $100 socket if you buy the parts from
them--ask around.
