| Subject: | They tried to steal my car??? |
| Date: | Thu, 1 Feb 2001 09:34:24 -0500 |
Shit. Double shit. I went to get my car this afternoon, and apparently someone broke in. They didn't just break in, THEY DRILLED A HOLE THROUGH THE F******* DOOR!!!! Photos available to anyone so interested.
They drilled a hole through the door just below the handle. The metal is nice and shiny, there was no rust at least.
I don't understand. I did just install a fancy new in-dash AM/FM/Cassette stereo with a 12-disk changer, but they didn't touch that. There was nothing worth stealing in the car. And I didn't notice anything missing. But the door was unlocked when I got there. I wonder what they wanted? The car is undamaged, except for a hole in the passenger door :-( :-( :-(
The parking spot is 2 floors underground in an allegedly secure area - access is by key only. Where I am living, this is the only sort of garage that exists - private garages simply don't exist.
The good news of the day is that I drove my car to the garage that has done the work on it in the past. They allowed me to pull the carb myself and indicate exactly what I want done. This afternoon or tomorrow morning they'll fab a fuel line for me and relocate the coil to eliminate the interference with the new dual-feed fuel line. Tomorrow morning I'll put my jeans back on and go back and install the new 4777-C. Gotta love a garage that'll let you do some work on your own car in their facility, prep it for exactly what you want done, then let you finish the job yourself.
The forecast looks good this weekend so it looks like a ski trip in the P. Assuming the new carb works halfway decent, since it came off a Pantera and worked well there, it ought to. So I'll have a 700 kilometer test drive over the weekend to see how it works.
Man, that pisses me off about my door....
