David,

I bought a DeTomaso Pantera for five reasons:

1) It is, to me, the most beautifully balanced body design I have ever seen.

2) It is mechanically simple.

3) It has a familiar American V8 with plenty of power.

4) Parts are, in most cases, readily available.

5) When the Pantera was in production I was young and could not afford one, 
now I can.  In fact, Panteras are a bargain.

I think these reasons are valid for many Pantera owners.

You must realize this forum is for gearheads who like to talk about and 
tinker with their cars.

Until I retired recently, my '74L was driven daily, rain or shine (mostly 
shine in SoCal) and parked out of doors.
