I used a McLeod 'long-style' pressure plate (#360505) and a McLeod disk with
kevlar
pucks on the flywheel side (#260831). I ordered them direct from McLeod
(714 630-2764). At the same time I replaced the pilot and throwout bearing
with new ones from Pantera Performance Center, Co. The throwout bearing is
one of the 'always run' versions, that's supposed to be OK even if you don't
get the clutch free-play quite right and the bearing drags. The pilot
bearing is a needle bearing type (that Kirby Schrader has been running for
years with no problems). I also replaced the stock clutch slave with a
stainless long-throw from Pantera East. Free play with the new slave is
much better than before. I still have the original clutch master and red
plastic hydraulic line that seem fine so far.
As far as the clutch action, it's smooth as silk with good pedal feel. But
the pedal pressure is very high. The combination of pre-L pedal action and
long-throw slave conspire to make your left leg twice as big as your right
after about a week. It's a real pain in traffic. If I were doing it over
again I'd think very hard about the Centerforce for a little more money but
a lot less pedal effort.
