Gray,
Yes, the pads signify different compounds. Any Wilwood dealer should be able
to crack the codes for you.
Or, surf to:
http://www.wilwood.com/products/brake_pads/polymatrix.html
This breaks down their available compounds. I'm used to hearing about
Wilwood pads by color, i.e. the "green" versus the "tan" pads. Back when I
bought my Wilwoods (1993), PPC normally issued their brake systems with
"green" colored cold-stopper pads, which are good all-purpose pads but are
noisy and dusty. For people who are willing to compromise braking
performance slightly in the name of civility, they offer the optional "tan"
cold-stopper pad.
Their full-on A, B, C and D-series racing pads really aren't suitable for the
street, but for your track car, might be the hot ticket if you drive it hard
enough.
