FYI. I just ran across this explanation on the AutoMeter site:

In short, they sell both but recommend voltmeters: less hastel/greater
safety and better, more reliable readings. Basicly a no brainer. I came to
this conclusion long ago and have ripped out all ZONKEY's ammeter wiring.
