| Subject: | 3rd annual Space City Panteras Texas Track Event (update #8) |
| Date: | Fri, 2 Feb 2001 11:15:35 -0500 |
If you didn't register by now, it's going to cost you $300.
January 27th was the cutoff date.
There are only 12 slots available as of the beginning of the week!!!!
If you want to join us on the track, it's time to call and get
registered.
Question:
Didn't hear a squeak out of those guys snowed in up North... Guess
they don't want to warm up a little and enjoy some Texas hospitality.
:-))))
I'm trying to find a restaurant that we can book for 20-30 people on
Saturday night, so let me know if anyone is interested in joining us.
Racegas, gas, tires, etc. will be there as usual.
If you are a novice or have never been on TWS before, you must attend
the driver's meeting at the Manor House on Friday night and pick up
your packet. If you have attended TWS before, you can show up at
7:00AM Saturday morning and pick it up then without having attended
the meeting Friday night. If in doubt, let me know and I'll double
check with The Driver's Edge.
Tech inspections:
***Update***
We are getting together at Gray Gregory's place outside Brookshire
on February 17th for a tech session/tech inspection/bench racing get
together.
Let us know if you can make it. Planning to attend so far are:
David Bell, Gray Gregory, Tom Upton, John Taphorn and Kirby Schrader.
The Panteras (only) can be done by Kirby Schrader and John Taphorn if
you are in the Houston area. We have the go ahead from the organizer.
But guys... It's not just a sign off. We don't want you going into a
wall. Safety first! So please do your best on your car. We'll do our
best to check what needs to be checked and not miss anything.
The list that The Driver's Edge has on their website is a good one. Use it!
One specific to Panteras: should have the coolant tank overflow
routed to behind the right rear tire. Another is heater hose cutoff
valves.
For other guys not nearby... If you can't find a local shop to handle
the inspection, John and I could do a couple or so early on Saturday
morning. Please let me or John know ahead of time though... We don't
want to be missing our time on the track! :-))))))
Email or call John or Kirby. marytaphorn@msn.com schrader@ev1.net
The registration and rules say you have to Z rated tires. This is not
necessary. However, your tires DO have to be in good shape. So good H
rated BFG's are fine.
The list has been updated.
IMPORTANT!
The organizers say they'll allow us to line up all the Panteras on
the front straight for pictures and they are excited that Panteras
are coming. The picture opportunity is also for those who don't run
on the track!
Everyone who wants their picture taken should be there Saturday
morning so we can line y'all up by noon!!!
Currently, we have what I count as 23+ Panteras that will be in the pictures.
'The Driver's Edge' is holding a high speed driver's education course
and the weekend booked (February 24-25) is at Texas World Speedway.
Cost for the weekend is $275 with the price going up to $300 after
January 27th.
Also, if we get enough confirmations early enough, free covered
paddocks for the Panteras are available. But we need to know how many
plan to attend with their cars (those racecar type dudes get first
pick!).
To sign up, go to the website at: http://www.thedriversedge.net/
and download their forms for technical inspection and registration.
If you have problems, let me know and I'll email or fax them to you.
Accommodation will be at the Manor House Hotel (the 'usual' place) in
College Station (1-800-231-4100). Call for your room ASAP!
