All:
Been doing some cataloging of all the wiring on the Pantera (at least
the early ones). I'll worry about the late models later.
Took some of my break time during work to do some point to point wiring
identification, the color of wiring, and gauges that I will be using on
#2428. Everything (and I mean everything) is being traced, written down,
gauged, and tested. Yep, just as an echo to the "stock" types out there,
I even decided to rewire the door and ignition key buzzers back in
place. I'm also using new parts too (at least, where ever I can).
While on the subject, I also decided to attack the relay board. I was
able to pull it out and take a long deep hard look at what I had.
Inspired by Rick Moseley's relay project, I decided to incorporate the
headlight circuit into the car. Instead of the panel switches carrying
the full load, I opted to put in a power relay and a high/lo beam relay
into the car. Additionally, I'm tossing the old headlamp concealment
device relay in lieu of a pair of modern standard SPDT (single position
double throw) 40 amp relays to take it's place. Gone will be the old
blinker relay (which was wired in) and in will be that Triton (or
Triad?) type 35 relay that SOBill talked about. Buzzer might stay on or
I'm switching over to a more modern "softer" beeper for the ignition
reminder. Horn, A/C condenser fan, and A/C clutch relays are also being
replaced with modern units. The only thing that will be added into the
circuit will be a 20 amp fuse as I'll be rerouting all current drawn
from the headlamp power switch and turn switch column through something
a little more rugged and robust.
As soon as my cataloging has been completed, I intend to check (and
double check) the work before I begin.
