Subject:Willow Springs Update - TPOC Style

Hey Guys & FirSSt,

One of the many TPOC-Willow caravans left Seal Beach (CA) around 6:30am
Saturday arriving at the Willow Springs Track around 8:00am. The weatherman
had forecasted rain late Saturday evening with showers turning heavy on
Sunday. To the delight of many, weather at Willow was only partly cloudy
and the temp was around 60F. A quick headcount revealed that a number of
guys cancelled out due to the possibility of rain. Boy, are they gonna be
disappointed!

Never estimate the weather at a distant location by the forecast for your
own neighborhood.

We met a number of POCA people in person that we had previously communicated
via email only. (Note to self: Las Vegas Fun Rally will be an outstanding
opportunity to see lots of people I've never met in person...never been
there yet). We also ran into a few new Pantera owners not affiliated with
any POCA chapter. (Sell-Sell-Sell!) Mike Elliot (sp?) of Camarillo, a new
owner, received his first Pantera speeding ticket on the way to the event.
:~) His luck turned a bit more sour by only having 2-3 lbs of fuel line
pressure. The problem was remedied by a few of the many wrenchheads on hand
and Mike was back out on the track. :~)

Gregg Esakoff had some early electrical problems which kept him out of the
early afternoon race, but he came storming back later in the day to prove
that his car is definitely a force to be reckoned with. We would have loved
to see him duke it out with Sammy Maloof (Vette), the Vipers and a few of
the sport mini-trucks that did extremely well.

Rather than take a bunch of great pics, like Mike Drew, I spent too much
time spectating and taking it all in. I did manage to take a few pics of
the track and some of the POCA faithful. Next time (November 2001), I'll do
it all.

Http://www.SoCalPantera.com has recently added a new Forum intended
primarily for the SoCal crowd, but everyone is welcome to register and use.
The Forum was just brought up on 3/3/2001 so it's pretty empty, but you'll
be impressed with the ease of use. Good Hunting !!
