I don't have a solution for you but to say that my '72 Pre-L needs it's door
to be closed "firmly" or it will not catch. When I bought the car, three years
ago, it had been restored and had new weatherstriping all the way around on it.
The doors align very nicely, when I push the door closed slowly from about 1/2
inch out I can feel the resistance of the weatherstrip. Unless you are having
a deteriorating situation, you may just have good weatherstriping. (This is
not an add for the condition of my car). Best of luck.

My drivers door needs a good firm push/slam to close properly. If not it
catches on the latch and is open about 3/8 of an inch. It seems all aligned
and even while looking at the spacing between the body and door. Same as
the passanger side that works fine. I did notice that the rubber alignment
bushing at bottom of both doors do not fit snugly into their respective spots
on the body pillar. Should these rubber plugs fit perfectly? Seems they
should interlock. Weatherstrip seems to be fine. What is the acceptable
spacing between door and body? front?, back? should it be even all around?
Any suggestions with getting this door to close nicely is greatly
appreciated!! Thanks! Enjoy your day!
