Just for grins, I went out to the Lone Star Raceway near Sealy (west
of Houston about 40 miles) last Sunday. The reason? They were having
an "Internet Car Club Bash" and the HALO club (Houston Area Lightning
Owners) was there with about 11 trucks. Along with Westside Mustang,
Buick Club, etc. etc. etc. Man, those Grand Nationals...

$15.00 Entry Fee for driver and vehicle, $10.00 per spectator by the way...

Anyway, it's an eight mile track and the event is a bracket race
event where car clubs compete against each other for points and the
honor of their club. Sunday, the gates open at 10:00 AM, time trials
start at 11:00 AM, eliminations start at about 1:30 PM. If you get
there early, you can get in some practice runs.

I'm a little averse to thrashing my first new vehicle in years, but
when they found out I had a Pantera, they all wanted to see one run.
Why not?

Louie Schault and Mike Farrell went out there a few years ago and had a blast.

Anyone interested in joining me sometime with their Panteras? I don't
plan to make it a repetitive event and much prefer the track events ,
but I think it'd be good for a one time grin. I haven't drag raced
since 1987 when I thrashed that twin turbo Ferrari!

:_))))))

I know drag racing used to be a big deal with the Pantera crowd.
Anyone know why it sort of died out?

Just curious...
HALO won the event, by the way... Man... sub-9 second street trucks...
;-)
