Here's the story I got on mine....

The 245x40x17 Pilots are committed contractually to the BMW M3's.  So my
tire guy saw one (M3) sitting in a grocery store parking lot and went over
and wrote down the VIN#.  Then you call a BMW dealer and tell him you have a
M3 in your shop with a destroyed tire and he will ask you for a VIN#.  If
the VIN is valid he can release the tire to you.....

After searching for them for weeks, My tire guy got me a set in 3 hours.
