Hi John...
Are you ready? Here's my FirSSt thought.. you pick up the car and drive it
yourself to Las Vegas for the Fun Run which begins Wed. April 25th through
Sunday the 29th. Maybe even one of the TX guys wants a ride to Vegas. This
way you are going from Texas to Nevada and checking everything out. Should
something be needed... you have all the De Tomaso people in the country
gathered in one spot to help check it out for you. Then you can decide
whether to ship home from Vegas or to continue driving.
How's that grab you?
Congratulations to you... and much happiness with your new Pantera.
Laurie

I am getting close to the purchase of my dream car.
I have many many questions, but the pressing one at
the moment is, if the sale goes through, do i have the
car shipped or do i drive it home. the car is in texas
and i am in seattle.

some background, the car is a 72 pre-L, 48k, new hoses
and fluids. the right rear wheel bearing may need
replacing but it does need to be looked at. a very BIG

THANK YOU to Kirby Schrader, Dave Bell, and Fred Hall.
They spent two hours a week ago inspecting the car and
preparing a very thourough(sp?) write up. It amazes me
that 3 people whom i have never met spent a good part
of their saturday to help out a total stranger. i hope
that someday i am able to pass on the gernerosity that
they have shared with me.

i am going to see the car this weekend. if all goes
well i will become the new owner.

so questions for all of you, do i attempt to drive it
2200 miles home, or should i ship it. if i decide to
ship it, do any of you have any recommendations for a
shipping company? if i decide to drive home, besides
throwing some attention to the wheel bearing, what
else
should i look at? how many days should i allow for the
trip, is 700 miles per day too many?

thank you for your ideas and opinions

John Maffeo
still searching in seattle, hopefully not much longer!
