Subject:More painting fun

Inspired by Tony G. work on his car, I thought I'd put in the continuing
efforts with #2428 and my painting schemes.

I began the day putting in a full four hours of sanding the primer
filler. This is the part I absolutely hate. But if one has to have an
A-1 finish, all the surface imperfections must be dealt with. I went
through several sheets of 360 grit before I was somewhat satisfied with
the finish. I did "blow through" the primer to hit bare metal again.
Also, there was a high spot as a result of something that dinged the
decklid from below (I suspect a previous owner had slammed down the lid
on something protruding that caused the high spot). So, I took out my
trust body and fender hammer and "bumped" the high spot down. Seems
level. After that, the "reprimering".

Earlier on Thursday, I purchased a conventional non-HVLP gun (I think I
can still do this at a residence as commercial use is verboten in the
People's Republic of CA). Mucho better! I like the way the stuff went on
the hood and decklid.

Tomorrow, I'll again block the decklid and hood, this time with 600 grit
to smooth out the surface. Everything looks level except a few items
here and there that can e spot puttied.

To be continued....
Cal #2428.
