The rubber donuts should be skewed toward the firewall. I was tempted to
reverse them when I had my engine out to gain some extra clearance between
the distributor and firewall. I'm glad I didn't though because the
transaxle wouldn't have lined up in its mounts that way.
I can't help you much with the hinge pin but for sure a 10d nail is not what
goes in there.
