DeTomaso Mailing List: May 2001, Message #59

Cal, we met up with John Wood from England again. He's the young guy who 
bought a worse rust-bucket/basket-case Pantera than yours was, and being 
un-rich, fabricated sheet metal tools to build replacement floors, suspension 
points and rocker panels. He was also telling us about modifying a used home 
sewing machine to re-upholster his seats in leather, since the stock vinyl 
was wasted. He finished the interior & bodywork, and just painted his car 
(red, of course) before leaving for Nevada . He has a 'history book' of all 
mods he's done, and the 'before' photos of his machine are frightening! 
John's now beginning to dig into the engine. In Europe, a big V-8 is rare, 
and Holley 4bbls are mysterious and exotic... He expects to have his machine 
on the road by mid-June for the Le Mans trek from England with the Brit club. 
You guys should trade Pantera-resurrection war-stories some time! Not sure if 
he has e-mail but it could be done by regular mail.  Cheers- J deRyke
