The head design on Pantera studs seems unique. Changing to a "more common
design" without the locking flat may cause you some inconvenience if a stud
loosens in its hole while you're trying to change a tire. In addition, there
is very little clearance between the top of the studs and the rear brake
rotor hats; this may cause contact and noise in some cars. Finally, I
converted one car (not mine) to 911 Porsche studs, which are the next size
larger in dia, presumably stronger and come in many lengths. And God knows
they are common! Just watch out for the mentioned clearance problems.
