Hello John
I sent the check to a guy in Ohio after you posted the link to the list. I
took your word that this is a good deal. :)
There were some oddities in the original add like the injection picture with
the wrong engine! It turned out the engine is at a race shop and the
injection is with the owner in Charleston NC. They put the wrong picture in
to show something similar. It is going to come with Hilborn mechanical
injection with 2.5" butterflies. I have the Speed pro Fuel injection so I
will convert this manifold to EFI. Gregg pointed out to me that this is over
4000 CFM. For those that have seen Greg's car on the track , it sounds like
it works ok.
The small block is aluminum and bored 70 over # M-6010-Z351. The 4.125" LA
Kryptonite crank is knife edged.Total displacement about 429". The 6.125
rods are also LA Kryptonite H beams with Floating pins.
I will replace the Venolia pistons to lower the compression. I will also
need a bit less cam.
The heads are C302B with a ton of the best parts like titanium retainers and
Erson roller rockers.
The front of the engine is very interesting,. Since this is a sprint car
engine the water pump is direct drive from the front of the crank and the 5
stage dry sump is direct drive from the cam. If I can fit this in the car, I
will need to figure out how to attach the alternator as there is no front
balancer or pulleys. The previous owner had paid a bit over 30 grand for the
complete package. He has since found a different class of racing more
interesting. So the motor was not important to him.
Now I just need to sit here and wait to see if everyone does what they said
they will do.
I suspect everything will work out great as I have had very good luck
meeting nice people in this world.
Since I already have a very nice John Parson's stroker motor, I will take my
time preparing this motor unless someone shows up that needs my 414" stroker
sooner.
Take care and cross your fingers,
Nolan
