Actually, it was a motor that I acquired at last year's SD swap. It
was a Volkswagen/Audi window unit. No hammering required. I adapted
it to the headlamp pop up unit (using a large washer as an adaptor
plate) and turned it 90 degress. Slips in real fine. No hammering
required (I think it was Jim Demick who did that with the
Dayton/Grainer motor). And it probably cost much less than the NOS or
'rarri variety. While I was at it, I "cracked open" the Ducellier
gear case. Good old plastic stuff inside. A quick phone call to
Dennis Quella and I had the tri-spoked brass gear to my lair in short
order. Degreased and cleaned the case, lubed and installed the new
gear and the new unit turned pretty slick. I think it will be more
reliable than the old Ducy motor and plastic gear trickery.

FWIW. Cal. #2428.
