In the Fall 1996 issue of Pantera International Fred wrote an article entitled
"No Light Matter: Or Making Sure Your Headlights Don't Wink Out." On November 2,
1996, I bought Pre-L #2886 and proceeded to drive it home to Minnesota from
Napa, CA. I hadn't gotten any further than halfway across Nevada when my
headlight switch went out. Of course, at the time, I didn't know what the
problem was so I continued on my journey without headlights, limited to daytime
driving for the next 2000+ miles. The first repair I did on the car was to
install high and low beam relays per Fred's instructive article and install a
new light switch. It wasn't the easiest job I've ever undertaken because the
relays are installed at the base of the steering column at the plastic multiplug
coming off the high/low column switch and quarters down under there are pretty
tight. After much colorful language, two Bosch relays and a few bits of wire the
installation was complete and I've had no problems since. It's a very clean,
simple and effective solution to the problem and I highly recommend it. If you
want a copy of the article, email me off list and I'll send you one. Thanks
Fred.
