There are various options open. Two of the best are Hewland and
Porsche.Hewland is 100% race gear. The Porsche transaxles can be switched
around by rotating the differential to (drive backwards). This then opens up
many options including tiptronic, and 6 speed sequential with button control
on the steering wheel (NICE ONE). A cheaper option to a Porsche tranny is
that of the european VW transporter vans. These are heavey duty work trucks
with the traditional VW rear engine layout. Cheap to buy and many race/up
grade convertions and interchanges with Hewland too. Check out a web site
for Ultima cars in the UK, they have mid engined chevy powered sports cars
with Porsche transaxles and many options.
