| Subject: | How Much AC Compressor Oil |
| Date: | Sun, 3 Jun 2001 15:38:44 -0400 |
I've just finished replacing all the hoses, the drier, and the expansion
valve on my '72 AC system. I'm running an R-12 system with a rotary
compressor which I did not drain or flush. I'm also reusing the stock
condensor and evaporator, also not flushed. I assume that a large
percentage of the compressor oil in the system needs to be replenished as it
was in the hoses and drier that I replaced.
The Napa guys (who may or may not know what they're talking about) suggested
pouring 2 ounces of oil in the new drier and 8 ounces into the compressor.
Two questions: 1) how much oil does a Pantera with a rotary compressor
require when empty, and 2) how much new compressor oil should I put in
before charging the system?
Thanks for the help.
