While in Modena a few weeks ago, I made a point of bringing up this topic and 
tried to impress upon them how much we are NOT impressed!  I told them it was 
almost an outrage to expect people to pay that kind of money for the 
privilidge of being in their little owner database.

They seemed genuinely shocked and surprised, and failed to understand how 
anybody could have a problem with it?  After all, they said, the people who 
pay the fee get a nice model of a Pantera (it IS an exquisite 1/43 model, Jim 
Demick is selling them for $100) and a certificate signed, genuinely, by 
Alejandro De Tomaso hisownself.

They just don't get it.  Eventually I gave up trying to convince them that 
this was a PR gaffe on their part.

BTW, apparently 14 people have paid the $450 so far....

Mike (got WAY better things to do with that kind of money!)
