Brent,
In case you haven't already figured it out...
The motor is the obstruction that prevents the speaker from going fully
forward. The open part of the opening is about 6" wide out of about
10.5" total. The motor is back only about 1" from the plane of the door
so your speaker basket could stick over it some but not the magnet.
