Just a mini update:
I didn't devote too much time to #2428 but in the spirit of doing at
least something, I did pull my new side marker lamps and did those up.
I probabl ydidn't mention this in the past but I did do a mod. I bought
2 pairs of those "rice boy" style lamps to replace the side marker Capri
style lamps used in the Pantera. Of course, since the new style lamps
didn't fit, I built aluminum spacers to fit inside the Hall Pantera
billet blacked coated side marker bezels (making these spacers was
lengthy and a pain).
After some intense test fitting and getting it right, I had cleaned the
spacers and powder coated them krinkle grey. Well, the results looked
good with the following color scheme: Ferrari Corsa Red with black
bezels and krinkle grey spacers holding in the new style side marker
lamps. I think I paid for a pair of lamps what it could have cost me for
a new connector/lamp base for the OEM Capri light bar.
What I did today was install two conductor Molex plugs on the lamps. I
also soldered and crimped the new pins to the rice boy lamps. Next step
is to test wire the side marker lamps as a circuit in conjuction with
S.O. Bill's turn sig/hazard schematic. Funny thing is that I have the
hazard switch for a late car and I have an early circuit that used the
hazard switch without the 120 ohm resistor. I'm currently doing some
translations between the early and late units so we'll see how it chugs
out.
BTW, if you are in the process of changing out electricals on your
system, (as the Drewster says), put a crowbar in your wallet and shell
out the $$$ to get a new switch. It's worth the while to prevent trying
to use match sticks (ala Jack DeRyke's old post) keeping the switch on
the inside if the switch is worn. I'll keep you posted.
Cal #2428.
