Charlie, I've been running roller rockers (Crane) and a solid lifter
camshaft now for over 14 years. There is nothing inherently wrong
with them and although I check them probably once to twice a year,
they very rarely need adjustment.
I've been following your trials and tribulations with interest, but
not being there doesn't lend itself to a decent explanation.
Are you positive you don't have any valve spring binding? Can you get
a feeler gauge between the spring coils when the valve is fully open?
This would certainly explain why pushrods keep bending, but I'm not
sure it's the answer you're looking for.
As for the stud girdle... Well, it certainly won't hurt! But there
has to be another explanation. In my opinion, of course. And I've
been known to be wrong.
