Subject: Greetings and a question about rattling

For my first posting, I would like to say greetings to everybody.
My name is Mark Buenafe and I work and play in rain soaked
Los Angeles.  (Good for our drought - bad for convertible
owners here).  I am a owner of a base blue 92 (A/C and hardtop options)
which I purchased in August 1992.

I have a rattling noise that has been bugging me since day one.
I took the car in more than five times to the dealer,
Huntington Beach Motors, to resolve thhis problem.  I even
had the district manager check it out.

Here are the symptoms:
-rattling (chattering) noise seems to come from front and below car.
-happens at rpm greater than 3000 (3500 seems to be the loudest).
-noise is NOT noticible in 5th gear.
-temperature is not a factor
-sometimes during a rain, the noise is not noticible.

The dealer techs and district manager claim it is a normal sound in Miatas.
(They had another car with similiar noise).  I proved them wrong when I d
demanded that I randomly select a Miata off the lot.  

Does anybody out there have this rattling noise?  Any solutions
other than buy a stereo?
