Gary Fischman writes: "Personally, I've never believed in extended warranties...." I agree. They're a scam in general. On top of that, the Miata is so reliable, the warranty companies will probably pocket almost every dime they take in on these things. I'd be interested to see some statistics on frequency of repairs for the Miata which are needed after the factory warranty expires. I seem to remember Consumer Reports giving the Miata excellent marks in this regard. Save the money and buy some new tires or something. It's funny, when I go to driver's schools, everybody else is working on (i.e. fixing) their cars. Even the late model ones. I kind of feel guilty, but all I can do is clean my windshield and check everything. Now I just bring a novel and some sunscreen (still bring my tools, in case somebody needs to borrow them). -Al
