It has an ultrasonic motion detector and works quite well with the top down, i.e. someone putting their hand inside the car sets the alarm off. Of course, the main purpose seems to be to scare off people admiring my leather seats who reach in to stroke them! However, when it rains heavily (and the top is *up* ;^) the top bounces and sets off the alarm. There is a sensitivity adjustment screw, but this is under the steering column, so not very convenient to adjust very often (I carry a small screwdriver for the purpose). Now, if the adjustment was some sort of knob or thumbwheel on the dash, it would be a pretty good setup. I believe Mazda in the UK sell one like this. A friend of mine has a microwave proximity device in his Honda Del Slo, and he has had over-sensitivity problems with that. When a bird got too close the car would chirp at the bird! -- -- Paul Jasper -- RATIONAL -- Object-Oriented Products --
