From: (none) Subject: Oil Pressure Date: (none)
Having heard the "ominous theme music", One should ask the dealer what kind of oil he put in. It is reassuring to hear that 28 psi warm idle oil pressure is normal since this is about what I have. This seems high compared to some European cars I've owned. The oil used does make a difference. I once tried 15W50 Mobil 1 in my 1990 Miata, and was shocked to see the oil pressure gauge stay in the upper half of the scale almost all the time. I have since switched to 5W30 Mobil 1, which has resulted in more normal pressures, but still see nearly 90 psi sometimes when the engine is cold. Milton Horst Seattle, WA
