Well, that's about what I was told by my agent BEFORE I bought my car. The rate hike was based solely on the increased value of the Miata over the Civic; for liability rates, they supposedly consider my driving record independently from the kind of car I drive. AFTER I bought the car, I was told that they weren't sure if they could cover a Miata at all! Nice information to have after the fact, eh? To make a long story short, I'm covered at least for the rest of the current and the following policy periods, i.e. through next January; my record should be clear by then in case I have to switch companies-- if my Classic Red doesn't attract any cops.
