From: Doug Hagerman Subject: more tires Date: Tue, 7 Jun 1994 09:24:03 -0400
Hello. I'm interested in finding the "stickiest" dry DOT tire that will fit on the stock rims. Tire life, straight line steering, and wet performance is not an issue. Also I don't care about looks, so the 185/195 width issue isn't important (that is, if 185 is better for reasons of tread contact, heat generation, or sidewall stiffness, the coolness of having wide tires isn't something I care about), and I'd be happy with something like the Hoosier autocross tires if they were street legal. I had thought up until yesterday that the Dunlop SP8000 was that tire, but now I'm not so sure (after reading yesterday's mail). I don't really want to shave the tires, but other than that, anything goes. Any suggestions? Doug.
