TO ALL MAIL LIST SUBSCRIBERS: I offer my humble apology for inadvertently attaching the entire mailing list when I recently tried to reply to subscriber's E-mail. I used the "reply" button on my E-mail tool bar, which, obviously includes the whole list in the reply. I don't know how to cut selected pieces out of the list in order to just reply to one posting, so I'll close the list entirely and initiate a separate dedicated E-mail to send in my reply. RE Bras: In 1983 I had a Mazda factory bra (3 piece set for nose fascia and both pop-up headlight doors). This bra was unlined naugahyde that actually "breathed", thus requiring no removal when wet. At 3-4 month intervals I would remove the material from the headlight doors to check the paint condition and always found everything in A-one shape. I NEVER applied any type of vinyl protectant to the bra which would have defeated the breathability by sealing the porous material. The factory Miata bra is flannel-backed vinyl that DOES NOT breathe and therefore MUST be removed when wet to avoid discoloring the paint underneath. Since all nose masks move around to some extent, it is important to have several coats of wax on the paint for protection and remove the bra immediately after reaching your destination to avoid a build-up of trapped moisture underneath. RE Rattling Noises at 3-4000 RPM: Go to your dealer and ask to see Mazda Service Bulletins 008/93 and 009/93 concerning exhaust and catalytic converter problems.
