This is to the Washington DC area. I (and Kansei) will be going up to Summit Pt. on July 2 - 3 - 4 for a Car Guys drivers school. The paperwork requires that the car be inspected no more than two weeks beforehand, to the approximate extent of the MD pre-registration vehicle inspection which is required before a newly purchased car may be registered. One may have this done by a "qualified club technical official" (or words to that effect) or a professional auto shop somewhere. No other criteria. So: For those of you who have been through this - any recommendations? Can one ask a state inspection station to perform such an inspection and sign off the inspection sheet supplied by Car Guys, for the going vehicle inspection fee? Does one take it to a dealer? What should one expect to pay for such an inspection, if other than the going state inspection fee? Are there people in either the Capitol Mazda Club or the Chesapeake Area Miata Club who would be qualified by Car Guys standards? Looking forward to some hot tips here - --Jack M.--
