From: sji@plaza.ds.adp.com (Steve Ino) Subject: Bad vibes Date: Thu, 2 Feb 1995 15:47:36 -0500
Thanks to all who responded to my newbie oil filter question. What a great list and a friendly bunch of people! Here's my question. I get an annoying vibration at about 3500-3800 RPM, coming from behind the instrument panel (I think). The noise goes away when I shift or leave that RPM range. I don't think this is the same as the heat shield problem discussed in the past, especially since the vibration doesn't always happen. For some weird reason, there are times the vibration mysteriously goes away, particularly if I've driven the car, parked a while, and then driven off again. (It often vibrates on the way to work but doesn't on the way home.) I'd like to know (1) if anyone else has had this problem and how it was solved, and/or (2) how to remove the instrument panel so I can investigate for loose wires, etc. Thanks in advance. BTW, I have a red '93 A 5-sp. Steve Ino Portland, OR sji@plaza.ds.adp.com
