Well I have been crawling around underneath my Miata this evening. Installed teh Jackson Racing Stainless exhaust system. The installation took about 2 hours 30 minutes total and that was with a lot of goofing off. The hardest part was threading the stock system off the car through the rear suspension stiffening "box". The exhaust bolted right up and fit just about perfect. Wish I could have said the same for the Millen Motorsport "test pipe", it did not fit, so it is being sent back. The large (3.5") tip wants to touch the right edge of the bumper exhaust cutout. All installed and no leaks detected we started her up. Hmmm not loud at all, in fact not too much different from stock. Well it does sound a little deeper and fuller, a "richer" sound than stock, not so burbly. It is definately flowing more gases and the engine is breathing a little better esp. in the upper rpm range it has a lot more power. But it still never really gets loud which is a good thing. Right now it smells bad like a new exhaust does and it is melting a little of the rear bumper cutout, that should stop once it makes the hole big enough. Not much of a difference in exhaust note top up or top down so there is no annoying cabin resonance. I will see what happens as tomorrow will be my first full day with the system. I still cannot get over the size of that resonator tip. I can see it now, next Miata club meeting there will be a bad case of tip envy. ;) -Mac. '95 Montego Blue - Leather VRRROOOOOOOOOOMMMM!
