Well, I no expert either, but I have done two cross country trips, one alone in the Miata and one with an attractive blonde (female) passenger (I'm blonde too (are a majority of female Miata owners blonde, or what?)). I have never had a problem with a trucker while at a gas or rest stop. Had one chase me one time in Kentucky (kind of scary to be chased by an 18-wheeler in traffic at 95mph, where was the speed trap? I'd have _loved_ to get pulled over), but I lost him as we approached the city. At rest stops, as Jeannie said, just go briskly about your business. Sometimes they've said hi, or commented on the car or the trailer with the race tires, but no worries. I guess for every trucker who tries to hit on you, there's nineteen who'll beat him up for bothering you. Got stopped in the highway for construction in Indiana (?) and the guy in the Refridgerated Semi behind us offered me and my passenger ice-cream bars from his truck! Very welcome at 85 degrees :-) And then there's the T & L approach... "I don't think he's sorry Thelma. Do you think he's sorry?" "No, I don't think he's sorry, Louise" kate
