It does cut down on trunk space to some extent, but nonetheless, my wife and I were able to fit enough luggage for a 9 day drive from DC down to Florida and back without having to do laundry. However, another place you might want to consider for the CD is in the glovebox. If the CD player is small enough it should work, but of course you'll be giving up your glovebox. > 2.
