I guess it's a product of Volvo's marketing, but these cars are not all that boring. We've owned two, an '86 740 Turbo Wagon, and an almost identical '93 940 Turbo Wagon. The cars are comfortable, roomy, fantastic on long trips, quick enough, and unwaveringly competent. The '86 was a member of the Volvo High Mileage Club, at over 100,000 miles, and it was maintained to look brand-spankin' new. In fact, with the car cover my wife uses, we got many comments on trying to keep our *new* car looking new, then we'd tell them it was 6 years old with 100,000 miles, and watch their jaws drop. The car was flawless and nothing failed beyond a window regulator in that time period. The '93 was rear-ended and has not had as much success with reliability, and I think it's a result of the accident. Small stuff but repaired under the warrantee. These cars hold all our windsurfing equipment inside except the boards, which go on roof racks. And performance? Ever driven an 850 Turbo? I've driven one, and one of my autocross friends drives one at the races. Very, very quick and they handle great. No, it's not a Miata. But try taking three windsurfers, six sails, three booms, three masts, the requisite storage containers, tool boxes, and assorted other equipment, luggage for three, and three passengers in comfort on away trips in a Miata. Can't be done. So there. :-) Doug 1 3 5 Information Systems INTERnet dquara@encore.com Quara |-|-| Encore Computer Corp. Ft.
