Item Subject: cc:Mail Text Dan Ahern (any relation to Jack Ahern who used to work at Atari?) relates problems with his emergency brake locking. Wendy's (Crystal White '90, 85K miles) did the exact same thing after our wet winter last year. It was the first time she wasn't a daily driver, and after several week-long sessions of being parked outside in the wet weather, finally the brake calipers just refused to let loose. They loosened enough for me to get her to the shop, where the disk was discovered to be both scored and warped (big surprise). The pad on that side was worn down to nothing and was baked-enamel shiny. The other one didn't look so great, either. The shop put new (red!!) brake calipers on and I've gotten into the habit of chocking Wendy's wheels (another use for firewood) and leaving the brake off when she'll be parked for more than a couple of days. Now, if I could get the shop to figure out how to make the clips stay on right so I don't get that occasional "click" when braking, I'll be completely happy with Wendy's brakes!
