As I walked toward my office building's front door this morning, on the 

concrete plaza outside I spied a slug that had struck the ground 

head-first, presumably having been fired skyward at midnight.  It is fairly 

short but of significant diameter, probably a quarter-inch, and has a 

copper jacket that was peeled back from the tip on impact.  Maybe a .357 or 

45.  Scary!  Whoever fired it wasn't f**king around.  Also, at about 

midnight last night I heard someone rapidly fire off four or five rounds 

from a semiautomatic weapon.  What a town!
