[DeTomaso] Decklid support strut specs?

An even more interesting question...
Lets say you have 180s on the car and the lower stock mounting points
cannot be used. Where would you relocate this to so that the strut could
still have it's original range of motion and geometry?
I have been facing this issue as of late. Need to remount the struts and
not quite sure where to drill the holes for the lower mount point.
Anyone?
Thanks in advance, Greg

the end of
the stroke and the least at the beginning, so the metal is not
constantly under
great force when the decklid is closed. He said the cheap aftermarket
struts
are the other way around and the ones for the winged cars have so much
force
they bend the sheetmetal at the hinge area over time.

to consider.
That characteristic may be for the old fat struts, but the later, narrow
ones, I
have definitely exerts the most force when the decklid is closed.
My bathroom scale experiment showed that it needed about 52 kg (~520N)
to start
collapsing it, and when it was in the normally closed position it was
about 65
kg (~650N)
