Hit your shift key highlight the ones you do not want in a row and then hit 
delete....That will help you clear it all out fast, and still allows the others 
to freely chew the fat on the non direct content topics interesting to 
them...   It only takes a few seconds to do it, and I do not mind at all doing it.  
I just wish I could do the same in business, and simply highlight vanish the 
ones I know I do not want to see.....LOL's

This technique is useful for me too, I am not much into planes....but we 
should not expect everyone to stop talking about common interests even when its 
not about what we all have in common directly.   It was related content because 
someone was taking a trip in their car and wanted to site see some of this 
stuff....from there it just got specific about aircraft and what you might see at 
different locations.  (Shift highlight them, then hit Delete)
