Here's a cool kit car that does 0-60 in about 3 seconds:

Here's a short film from a dyno run where someone apparently didn't think 3
seconds was good enough:

1000 hp, 1000 kg -> 1 hp/kg. That would be like 1540 hp in my pantera :-)
1.1 bar boost, low octane fuel, 95 RON is probably around 90 octane (RON+MON)/2,
7500 rpm. This is to be used in a road car.
A few days ago I read a test on the worlds fastest production car, the Bugatti
Veyron, which has about the same horsepower, 1001 officially, but that was
measured using VW conservative norm, so that is most likely slighly more.
It does 0-100 kph (0-60) in 2.5 seconds, 0-200 kph in 7.3, 0-300 in 16.7. It is
electronically limited to 407 kph, 253 mph, which is the allowed top speed for
the tires. It has been tested at 402 kph, and they did have to switch the AC off
to reach that ;-)
It has a 7 speed DSG (Direct Shift Gear) transmission, which operates with dual
clutches and it shifts in 150 ms.
It will come to a halt from 400 kph in 10 seconds.
It has a torque of 1250 Nm, 932 ft lb, from 2200 rpm to 5500 rpm.
It has 10 radiators.
The Swedish Koenigsegg CCR is only 806 hp, but is only weighs 1200 kg, vs the
Veyrons 2 ton. The Koenigsegg had the speed record for two months at 388 kph,
set at Nardo in Italy. It does 0-200 in 9.6 seconds. I guess the four wheel
drive of the Veyron helps getting all the HP to the ground.
806 hp from a 4.6 modular Ford engine is not bad IMHO.
Cheers,
Thomas
