[DeTomaso] Big Bend Open Road Race

JT is on the road as of this morning sometime. John is co-driving his
Pantera with his brother who, with no previous experience, has to take the
BBORR driving school on Thursday morning. He was stuck in San Antonio
traffic with the diesel truck and trailer a couple of hours ago, but should
be headed towards Fort Stockton by now.

Steve Hawkins just finished re-installing his freshened and polished ZF and
appears to be good to go. I spent most of the day today troubleshooting a
short in the lighting circuit of my loaner trailer, but I think it's finally
squared away. Steve and I are planning to leave Houston tomorrow (Thursday)
morning. Also, I've gotten approval from BBORR, the wife and several middle
school teachers for Kathryn, my 12 yr old daughter, to be my navigator.
That should be fun for both of us. Kate is a little disappointed that her
new nomex driving suit doesn't fit quite as fashionably as she'd like. She
thinks it makes her look all frumpy.

I have a slight work complication in that I'm waiting to finish a well
evaluation and the drillers can't seem to get me the data I need. I'm stuck
here in Houston until that's over with. Hopefully I can finish it this
evening sometime. My point of no return for heading out is midnight Thursday
then drive through the night, since that should get me to Fort Stockton in
time for the last tech on Friday morning.

See you at the race - one way or another.

Hi all,
I'm sure some of the Team Pantera/Gruppo Rompiculi Corsa member are
already on their way to
Sanderson TEXAS for the 2006 Big Bend Open Road Race. This year we have
Steve Hawkins,
David Bell, John Taphorn and myself running Panteras. We had a couple of
people forced out by
mechanical or work issues and we will miss them this year...but there is
always October and the
RoadRunner. The weather in San Antonio is beautiful today, but there are
chances for thunderstorms in West TEXAS the day of the race. Running in the
rain is fine with me, I just don't like waiting around in the rain. If I
can make contact over the weekend I'll let you know how we do. Wish us
luck.
Michael
Gruppo Rompiculi Corsa
