This was a fairly popular swap in the mid-'80s. I remember one gentleman who 
owned one telling me at 'Vegas he discussed the change beforehand with a good 
friend of his who had a shop, who said there were "only 3 little things to do 
so the FE engine would fit". So they started in- and almost a year later & an 
uncounted number of dollars, the shop got those '3 little things' done- and 
they weren't friends anymore... I think he said the shifter shaft rerouting took
