This should be the biggest Team Pantera Racing group (still no Mangusta!) since 2000.
We had a team count as high of 19 a couple months ago...we have lost the usual number of guys (and one lady) to work, injuries, military service or family commitments. Still I expect at least 12 of these guys (most are PCNC members) to run some really outstanding fast rides in May and several of them are also planning to run their Pantera's in the Vegas Track Event!!!.
Here's the expected team list;
1. JOE "DOC" ABE - TEAM CAPTAIN
2. LARRY :"ROCKHOUSE" STOCK - TEAM SPONSOR
3. CHUCK "SHORTY" BROWN
4. CHARLIE "KUNG FU" PUCKETT,
5. "CRAZY DAN" COURTNEY
6. ELLIOT "MARINE" KUSHNER
7. MIKE "THE COXSMAN" COX
8. DARRYL 'SEAL" JOHNSON - 200 MPH PANTERA
9. GARTH "ROOKIE" RODERICKS
10. FREAKY LARRY WU
11. BIG BOB BENSON
12. DENNIS "WEBERS" DALEY
13. JASON "YELLOW STREAK" EATON
14. MAD DAWG

1. The 1st Is the Baer Brake sponsored,
"0 to 100 to 0 Challenge".
Also known as the "Z2Z" Event.
RJ Gottlieb and his infamous '69 record setting Camaro (198 mph Average in '89) (aka; Big Red) have offered up a challenge to all comers and Baer Brakes is sponsoring the competition. This is the 0-100-0 Contest (aka; Z2Z) on Friday just outside Ely Nevada at 10AM on Friday, May 19th. The drivers from a standing start will have one mile to reach 200 MPH and then come to a complete stop in the shortest distance at the end of the measured one mile. Besides RJ I hear some of the other competition for this event who have been burning the winter hours is Jerry Mall who not only a SSCC sponsor but he also owns K&N Filters and also races a monster Hennessy 850HP Viper which I hear has been getting specially tuned for this event, Chuck Shafer who currently owns the ORR average record (207 mph set in 2000)... Chuck will be running his '95 NASCAR Chrysler.,unning his There will be at least one Pantera (SEAL JOHNSON) entered in this event.....He just doesn't know about it yet! ;-]
2. Next up is the "High Noon Shoot-Out" also on Friday and drivers have from Noon until 4PM and can make as many runs as they want and time allows. This is a One-Mile acceleration contest and the field of competitors is expected to be much larger. The fastest (SEAL JOHNSON AGAIN) is gonna take a run at 200 MPH+....
3. Finally there is the annual car show and parade of cars on Saturday through Ely and the 90-mile ORR on Sunday morning. ...While JB will be away at some cop SWAT school and Pedro Martini is going back on active duty we are still looking at 15 or so Pantera's. THIS IS BIG
Remember, in the Touring Division (95-125 MPH) all you need is to pass Tech is add a fire extinguisher, bring a helmet and gloves. Check out the SilverState web site rules for details....the faster you want to go the more safety mods you need to add to the Pantera. If you are a rookie and want to bypass the Vegas thing on Thursday and just go straight to Ely and you have any competition experience at all I can probably get you a waiver on the Qualifying track session in Vegas scheduled for Thursday so you can drive straight to Ely. Just write me and let me know what YOU want to do or if you have any questions.
STILL WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO FINISH AN ORR IN A MANGUSTA!!! IF YOU FINISH THE ORR ON SUNDAY, TEAM PANTERA RACING PAYS YOUR REGISTRATION COST!!!
THIS IS GOING TO BE BIG.....SEE NAMES BELOW AND STATUS OF IN OR OUT...
